With the season now well underway, it is great to report the growth and success of the croquet section of Kelvin Grove. Since our last news clip we have held three extremely well attended internal tournaments with over 40 active members.

In November the winners of our handicap doubles were Rob Kruger and Colin Chambers. Runners up Thea Lotz and Anne Impey.  The winner of the A section handicap singles was Rob Kruger and the runner up Mike Beamish, while the winner of the B section was Marilyn Bailey runner up Jill Pitman.

In February we held our open doubles championships with a record entry of players. The winners were Neil McHardy and Rob Kruger and the runners up were Margot and Richard Prosser. Congratulations to all our winners and runners up.

In our external competitions we have fared well and lie 2nd in the War Tomes league log behind Fish Hoek Croquet Club and equal 1st along with Fish Hoek in the Robinson Cup doubles league. With some very exciting matches ahead, it promises to be a very close finish.

Anyone wishing to join the croquet section please do contact myself or Jean Farrell. Details may be found on the section notice board. Our club days are Tuesday afternoons from 2pm and Saturday mornings from 9am.
